Stroller Recommendations
Searching for a Stroller?
There are a so many different options for strollers that it can be overwhelming. If you are searching for the perfect stroller, you will probably find that there isn’t one that meets all of your needs. Many moms of multiples have figured out that the children can fight with each other whether they are in the tandem front-back or side-by-side strollers! Our stroller chart summarizes information about some of the strollers with pros and cons from mothers of multiples who have used these strollers.
There are several options for strollers which include:
- A tandem (front-back) stroller that holds infant car seats and that will be your regular stroller when the babies outgrow the car seats.
- A tandem (front-back) stroller frame that holds infant car seats. However, when the babies outgrow the infant car seats, you will need to purchase another stroller. Many parents choose a side-by-side stroller.
- A side-by-side stroller which will not accommodate two infant car seats. At least one company (Combi) makes a side-by-side stroller that holds one compatible infant car seat.
- If you like to jog/run or take a lot of walks on uneven terrain, you might want to buy a jogging stroller or an all-terrain stroller in place of or in addition to the other everyday “mall” stroller.
- You might find that you also need a single stroller for those times you are only taking one child with you or when you want to carry one child in a front carrier and push one in the stroller.
Suggestions for looking for a stroller (or strollers) for you and your family…
- Take the stroller for a test drive. See how comfortable it is for you to push and turn the stroller. Think about your comfort with the handle bars and whether it works for your height.
- Figure out how the stroller folds and unfolds. Is it easy for you to fold it up and unfold it? Can you store the folded stroller in a standing position or does it need to be laid flat or balanced on something else?
- Test it in your vehicle. Make sure that the stroller will fit in your vehicle, you can easily get it in and out by yourself, and that you will have enough other space to haul around other stuff that you need.
- Consider the special features. Look at the features like cup holders for the children and you, storage space under the seats, and places to hold small items like keys and cell phones. Decide which features you can compromise on or absolutely need.
